Tanabata-Festival
"Tanabata-Festival" is held on July 7th in Japan. This day is season's festival like "Boys' Festival", July 7th was "Obon"in the lunar calendar. So,a one-day festival is held on this day.
But,"Obon" is held in August since 1873, Recently,"Tanabata-Festival" isn't much related with "Obon".
This day originated from both an ancient Chinese legend and Japanese mythology. This is a story what a man named "Hikoboshi" and a woman named "Orihime" meeting over the Milky Way. Herdsman(the star Altar) is called "Hikoboshi", Weaver(the star Vega) is called "Orihime",and Milky Way is called "Amanogawa" in Japan.
According to the Japanese myth, The God of the sky lived near the Milky Way. The God had a daughter.Her name is Orihime. She married the Hikoboshi. They enjoyed their time too much and forgot to work,God saw it and got angry, and instructed them to live separately. He allowed them to meet in the Milky Way once a year. The day is celebrated as "Tanabata-Festival "on July 7th.
"Tanabata-Festival" is celebrated by decorating bamboo grass with colored oblong cards and decoration.
People write a wish on colored cards,and pray for their wish to come true.
In various places, Extravagant ornament is decorated, "Tanabata-Festival" has been done grandly.
