Japanese New Year call "Oshogatsu"or"Shogatsu". "Oshogatsu" refers to the first month of the year. Usually,it refers to January 1-3 or 7.
Especially,January 1 is the most important day that begin of the year, it says 「Gantan(元日)」「Gangitu(元旦)」.
On the day,many Japanese go to see the first sunrise of the year, visit temples and shrines.
Japanese family prepares for "Oshogatsu" from the end December. Many Japanese go to buy decoration of the house,material of dish.
For example, "Shimekazari"or"Shimenawa" that decorate for the entrance of the house, "Oseti" that eat for special dishes and flowers.
There is many flowers that decorate to ”Oshogatsu”. Representative Branches and flowers are Matu(Pine), Ume(Plum),Take(Bamboo),Senryo(Sarcandra glabra),Habotan(Brassica oleracea var).
Flowers that match them are popular Kiku(Chrysanthemum),Yuri(Lily),Ran(Orchid).
Family,relatives and friends celebrate New Year while eating special dishes at New Year decoration's home.
