Kamidana-Sakaki

Kamidana is written as "god-shelf" in Chinese character.It is a compact Shinto altar that is dedicated to the god of Shinto.

Kamidana is recommended to be installed at a bright and clean place facing south or east.So,it is installed or hung on a wall in houses,offices,and shops.

Kamidana consists of a small shrine of wooden and "Sakaki".Sakaki is an evergreen plant,Since sakaki leaf stem is pointed , it is said that gods dwell there.It is a plant having deep relationship with the gods.

People offer sake,rice and water in Kamidana and pray to the gods.
