The Doll Festival
The Doll Festival is held on March 3. This Festival celebrates girl's growth and happiness.
Most families with girls decorate dolls at house. The dolls wear beautiful old court costumes and, It is called "Hina dolls (ひな人形）".
On that day,we throw roasted soybeans inside and outside the house while saying "Evil out! Good luck in!" and it is customary to eat the same number of soybeans as your age.
We decorate "hina dolls" to become scapegoat of girls.
The Doll festival is also called "Peach Festival", we decorate peach flowers with hina dolls.
Peach flowers are used a long life and amulet from old time in Japan. More people decorate peach flowers with ｆield mustards and tulip.
In addition to the flowers, we decorate diamond-shaped rice and cakes, alcohol free sweet sake and colored cubic rice crackers.
Usually, we decorate Hina dolls around the 4th February, put the dolls away on March 3 later.
