"Seven-Five-Three" represent the age of the children. The seven-five-three celebration is conducted for girls at the age of three and seven, and boys at the age of three and five, on November 15th.

This day, the family are beautifully dressed up, children are dressed up in Kimono,and taken to a shrine.

Seven-Five-Three-Celebration started in 1683. A during the reign of the 5th generation Edo general Tokugawa Tsunayoshi.

There is a popular theory that the festival started the a prayer held for the health of the general.People give thanks to god for the growth of children, pray for future blessings in the shrine.

And, Parents buy children long red and white candy sticks called "Chitose-ame". "Chitose" means a thousand years of age. The candy symbolizes a long life with happiness.

The bag of "Chitose-ame" has lucky goods such as crane and turtle,pine,bamboo and plum. After people prayed at the shrine , they take memorial pictures at the photo studio.
